FOR MANUFACTURERS

Get your home battery tested in the Netherlands

Are you a manufacturer, importer or a new brand on the Dutch market? We test plug-in batteries in ordinary Dutch homes, with real measurements. This page explains how we work and what we need.

In short

  • We test in real homes with solar panels, not in a lab
  • We measure ourselves: efficiency, standby use, cycles and more
  • We publish what we measure, also when results disappoint
  • No paid reviews

Who we are

ThuisbatterijenWijzer.nl is a Dutch website that helps households decide whether a home battery suits them, and which one. We do this with plain-language guides, a savings calculator and a comparison tool with over 30 models from more than 15 brands. All content is in Dutch and written for Dutch consumers. The site is run by Arjan Boltjes.

How we test

We install the battery in one of our test homes: ordinary Dutch houses with solar panels. There we use it the way a normal household would. We look at:

  • Installation and app: how easy is it to connect and set up?
  • Capacity: how many kWh can you really use?
  • Round-trip efficiency: how much energy is lost while charging and discharging?
  • Standby consumption: how much does the battery use when idle?
  • Working with solar panels and the Dutch smart meter (P1)
  • Noise, and backup power if the battery offers it

We measure with a separate energy meter and the smart meter, and log everything in our own measurement dashboard. A short test takes at least 4 to 6 weeks. Preferably, we also run a long-term test of one year. That shows what the battery does in winter and what it saves over a full year. If we may keep the battery after the test, we keep monitoring it. If anything changes after a few months, for example in winter or after a software update, we update the review.

What we test: plug-in batteries and batteries you can install yourself. We currently do not test fixed home batteries that need to be installed by an installer. We do include them in our comparison tool.

We can also test two batteries at the same time, in two almost identical homes. That shows the difference between the batteries, not between the homes.

Seriously interested in an independent user test by ThuisbatterijenWijzer.nl? We are happy to share our full test plan, so we can choose together which model fits best.

Our terms

  • We publish what we measure. If something disappoints, it will be in the review.
  • You see the review before publication and may have factual errors corrected, such as a wrong number. Our verdict remains our own.
  • If something goes wrong with the battery, we contact you first, so you can respond or offer a solution.
  • We always state that we received the battery from you or have it on loan.
  • We do not accept payment for a review or for a better verdict.
  • After the test, we return the battery, unless we agree otherwise. Shipping costs are agreed in advance.
  • We put the agreements in writing in advance.

What we need

  • A test unit as sold in the Netherlands, with the Dutch app and settings
  • Technical specifications and the manual
  • A fixed contact person for technical questions
  • If possible: the recommended retail price and where to buy the battery in the Netherlands

What you get

An honest, in-depth review in Dutch, with measurements from real Dutch homes. Your battery is also added to our comparison tool and savings calculator. If you have an affiliate or partner program, we can link to your web shop. Whether you are a partner or not does not change our verdict. You may share the review and our measurement results, with a link to ThuisbatterijenWijzer.nl.
